Pork Carnitas

 Ingredients:

1kg Pork Shoulder

Rub:

  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sales
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce:

  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 onion  - diced
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Method:

  1. Mix ingredients for rub. 
  2. Score the pork shoulder. 
  3. Rub mix into pork.
  4. Place pork into slow cooker.
  5. Mix the sauce ingredients well and pour over the pork.
  6. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 5 hours.
  7. Remove the meat. Retain the juices.
  8. Shred the meat with two forks and place on an oven tray. 
  9. Grill the shredded meat until the edged are crispy.
  10. Add the juices and serve.
